The Zonal Championship of the revamped format of the university games for pool D has been launched by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo. The games are taking place on the campus of the University of Dschang. Six institutions are taking part amongst them two state universities, that is the University of Bamenda and the University of Dschang and a host of other private higher institutions of learning in the West Region notably; Université Des Montagnes- Bangante, Institute Université Royal de Baboub de Bafang, Institute Universitaire Des Métiers de developpment Durable Banganté and Institut d'enseignement Superieur Foyaguem. This marks the start of the new zonal championship format, with Zone D opening the competition. The competition brings together over 1500 athletes, coaches and officials.
The University of Bamenda has 239 athletes in 12 disciplines.
