In order to achieve these goals it shall - provide excellent and quality education that will enable the students face the challenges of the twenty first century; - enable the student acquire both academic and professional education which is highly needed in the job market; - provide quality education so that graduates from the faculty shall be not only self-employed but employers; - graduates can serve efficiently wherever duty calls and - graduate a new crop of young industrious and innovate Cameroonians proud of the name they carry. To this end the Faculty offers both academic and professional degree programmes in the following Departments: 1. Bilingual and Translation Studies 2. Communication and Development Studies 3. English 4. Geography and Planning 5. History an Archaeology 6. Linguistics and African Languages 7. Performing and Visual Arts 8. Philosophy 9. Psychology The Faculty will continue to devlop new programmes especially those of a multidisciplinary character across the disciplines. General Entry Requirements: A pass in at least 5 O’Level GCE subjects including English Language and 2 A’Level GCE subjects, Probatoire and BAC or any other equivalent as approved by Senate. Specific Entry Requirements: Candidates who present certificates other than the GCE must show proof of English Language proficiency.
Mission statement
The mission of the Faculty of Arts is three-fold: To teach, conduct research and contribute to development through outreach activities. To meet these challenges, it offers not only academic programmes leading to the obtention of degrees from the Bachelor of Arts (BA) through the Master of Arts (MA) to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), but professional programmes which culminate in the award of a Professional Bachelor of Arts, a Professional Master of Arts and a Professsional Doctor of Philosophy. These programmes will help its teachers contribute to the growth of the nation and its graduates to meet the demands of an emerging economy in this age of globalisation.
