Ambassadors of five European Union Countries led by the Ambassador of the European Union to Cameroon have assured the authorities of the University of Bamenda that the European Union shall find better ways of collaborating with the University of Bamenda. This was during their maiden visit to UBa, February 27th 2025.The visit that saw the diplomats having a drive around campus was an opportunity for them to visit the Centre for Cybersecurity and Mathematical Cryptology.
Speaking at the event, The Vice Chancellor of The University of Bamenda, Professor Theresia Kuo- Akenji presented the University of Bamenda as a university with existing internationalization efforts evident through its strong ties with European universities in Spain, Greece, Italy, Belgium, France and Germany thanks to the Erasmus mundus programme. She seized the opportunity to thank the visiting ambassadors for always facilitating with logistics and visa formalities for UBa students who benefit from these programmes.
According to his Excellency, M Alian Leroy, Belgian ambassador to Cameroon, speaking on behalf of the visiting ambassadors, the university of Bamenda with 6 schools and 6 classical faculties and a student population of twenty three thousands, there is need for European members states to continue exploring various channels they can assist the university to attain and fulfill its needs.
Presenting the centre For Cyber Security And Mathemethical Crytology, funded by the Belgian government the coordinator of the Centre, Prof. Fouotsa Emmanuel revealed that the currently student enrolment stands at one hundred and seven students with some on full time and partial scholarships and currently, some 21 students are carrying out their MSc research dissertations supersized abroad with collaboration from teachers on the ground.
