At 15th Matriculation: UBa Welcomes Over Eleven Thousand New Students
The University of Bamenda has officially welcomed over eleven thousand newh students into its various Faculties and Schools during the 15th Matriculation Ceremony held on October 22, 2025, at the university’s central administration esplanade.
Addressing the freshmen, Vice-Chancellor Professor Theresia Nkuo-Akenji congratulated them for choosing UBa among Cameroon’s 11 state universities and numerous private institutions. She reminded them that success at the university is earned through hard work, discipline, honesty, humility, and moral uprightness , values reflected in UBa’s motto: Knowledge, Probity, and Entrepreneurship.
Professor Nkuo-Akenji announced the introduction of a new course on Leadership, Civic Responsibility, and Sustainable Development, designed in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education to expose students to funding and development opportunities under the Special Youth Triennial Action Plan. She also highlighted that this academic year includes the first cohort of TAGDev 2.0 scholars, reflecting the university’s growth through its professional and academic programs.
The Vice-Chancellor cautioned students against examination malpractice, lateness, drug use, and indiscipline, urging them to uphold the university’s standards. The matriculation discourse was presented by Dr. Makebe Haman Nwain, who discussed student mental health support systems within the socio-political context of the region.
The ceremony concluded a series of Faculty and School orientations, marking the official start of classes for the 2025/2026 academic year.
