The first Council Meeting of the National Higher Polytechnic Institute, NAHPI, School of Engineering of The University of Bamenda held today Friday 22, November 2019 in the Auditorium of the University Chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Theresia NKUO-AKENJI.
Among other issues, the Council evaluated the progress the school has made two years after its creation in 2017 by Presidential Decree No 2017/582 of 24 November 2017, the validity of the degree programmes particularly in relation to its assigned missions of providing initial and continuous training as well as research in the fields of engineering and technology in a bid to contribute to sustainable development.
The council lauded management and staff of the establishment for the positive strides made so far in spite of the inadequate staff and financial challenges. Taking cognizance of the progressive student enrolment and the logistics needed for training, the Council prayed the government to increase the subvention of the school substantially and also called on the school to liaise with the relevant industries, Companies and stakeholders to consolidate the training.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed her sincere gratitude to all participants for their very constructive contributions which will go a long way to improve on the quality of training in NAHPI.
The council ended with a vote of thanks to the government for the creation of the school and the support so far.
